17-Grab my bat and take a shot

"Identification Confirmed. State Request."
"Shut up."
"Please Clarify Request."
She hissed. "Of all the things to put in a bloody Time Machine.. it has to be an uppity computer."
She kicked around a few of the loose items on the floor, ignoring the stacked Resident bodies in the corner; that was obviously Diana's work, as well as the diamond scratched in the wall.
"...The great goring hypocrite got here before me."
She flicked around to face the door, her fire hair blazing behind her. "Chuck, get your shiny ass in here!"
"Yes Mistress?"
She looked down on the hunk of metal she refused to call a robot and sighed. "I could have built you so much better you know."
"Yes Mistress, that is highly possible. But then, I would no longer be the ingenious companion I am, and more likely a killing machine. This is not a prospect I enjoy thinking about."
"I didn't ask for your opinion. I just need someone to talk to otherwise folk will think I'm a nut case."
"We best hope that doesn't happen."
Her quick hands ruffled through the left over objects, discarding most of them while pocketing a few prize pieces. She was part way through wrenching some wires out of one of the Resident's weapons when she spied the capsule attached to the wall. She dropped her find and it clattered to the ground as she hurried to inspect the motherboard mounted nearby. She ran her fingers across the controls, quietly admiring the make, before finding something she didn't like.
"Chuck, look at this." She pointed to the reading. "It says that four people have gone through already."
"Affirmative."
"One'll be Di, one Isadore. The other two could be Residents, but if Di's gone through they won't be a problem much longer."
"No matter how much you hate her, Mistress, you must admit she is could at her job."
"Yeah yeah."
Chuck whirred towards her. "Do you plan to enter the Taper? To join your commander in the past?"
"Eventually. I'll stay to fix up a couple traps, defenses seeing as this place looks as if it has none, that way it should be easily protected for the next member who arrives."
"Would it be mistaken of me to hope you will use the Time-taper with caution?"
"Yes it would. There is no way I'm taking the slow road!" She pulled a soot-blackened laser from her back pocket, cutting open the side of the control panel, then began fixing wires to the insides. "The way I see it, is that this is too old to be trusted,"  she kicked the capsule, "so if I fix it a bit, the landing should be smoother. None of this vaporising at the other end."
"But won't it need testing?"
"Sure it will."
"But that could mean death for you! Destruction and system meltdown! You could end up anywhere!"
"Your too much of a worrypot, Chuck." She turned to face him through the  streaks of her red hair, grinning and showing of her single gold tooth. "You ever hear that old song?"
"Which song would you be referring to?"
"The one my mum used to sing me, back in the slums. She only sung when she'd had too much to drink. You know how it goes?"
"I don't."
She laughed, then began to sing with her raspy voice.
"Every night when I get home, you're dancing on the table! I'll grab my bat and take a shot..."
The machine sparked into life, glowing all around them filling the room with an unbearable light.
"Pop! goes the weasel!"

She is, really. When I think of her, I see her as some sort of outer-spacey pirate. She doesn't like being told what to do and love messing things up for Diana. A bit of a daredevil.
