19-Red Death

The warehouse had been quite useful, after its redesign. Arin had cleaned the large space and split it into different rooms by moving shelves around and hanging curtains. He fully expected the rest of the team to join them soon, so had prepared work spaces for them. Whatever Isadore had come her to do, they had to be prepared to help. In the mean time, he would work with Isa on remembering herself.
He had found himself some books on modern culture and was half way through reconnecting an old computer (a job he wished he had Hyde for) when his Connection alerted him of an incoming call. One had went to the metal band at his neck, tapping a button on the side, making a green-light projection jump into the air in front of him. He had connected it to the cellphone network, then added his contact number into Isa's phone as soon as he had understood that this was the main means of communication. His current incoming call was from Isa herself.
"Hello Isa." He smiled, amused that she thought to call him late at night.
"Arin! Hel-" Her connection crackled, voice making an audio monitor on his projection quiver. "The house- It's on fire. I tried to leave-" She coughed again. "The door landed on me. I can''t move, I-" She coughed some more and then the line cut.

Diana stood in awe of the roaring structure, flames licking out of the shattered windows. The house had been burning for sometime, all entrances blocked by the unrelenting flames. She had paced around the house several times, frustrated and shocked by her inability to help Isa, who had to be trapped inside.
"Diana."
"Arin. I haven't been able to get inside, I don't know if-" She stopped herself from rambling and slammed a fist on a near by tree. "Damn it! Get in there already." She swore at him a bit as he raced towards the house. She had only ever seen him shift once, but still the sight was amazing. A single thought to the ring around his neck and it burst into action. Metal platelets unfolded from its centre, covering his head in an impenetrable helmet. The rest curled down his body, covering him in a grey and green suit of armour in seconds. Metal wing unfurled from his back, incapable of flight, but designed to do so much more damage. Razor sharp wing tips glinted in the fire-light. Dressed for battle, he plunged into the inferno. And disappeared.
Unable to see what was going on on the inside, she paced. No sound emerged form the house as walls began to weaken and fall in on themselves.
It was only when she had begun to wonder if they had been crushed that she saw a figure in the flames. But when they saw her, they only laughed and ran to the forest, apparently unharmed by the blaze.
Finally with something to do, Diana made a cruel grin and gave chase.

The door pressed against my back, beginning to cut off the circulation to one leg. My phone, which I had struggle to reach had given up with the heat, buzzing pathetically and then turning itself off. I kept fading in and out of consciousness from smoke inhalation. I could only hope that Arin had got my call.
I fuzzed again, only seeing the floor as a vertical wall. A few of the plastic things in my room had begun to melt, the heat making me sweat. A book spontaneously burst into flames. I dragged in breath, trying so hard not to think about the pain I would feel when the flames finally advanced across the room. Maybe I would pass out first.
I hardly noticed when the pressure was lifted. Cool hands slid under, taking me from the floor. The flames moved away from me, as I was carried down the collapsing stairs. I spared a moment to wonder if this was an angel, taking me in death.
Once again, the voice in the back of my head chuckled. "Arin you show off. Sometimes I  think you enjoy being the white knight."
Arin? I turned my heavy head to look at my rescuer. Slightly shocked by what I found, I tried to struggle out of the things grip. A machine stared back at me, the light playing tricks along its visor. My weakened body made no useful effort to escape.
"Isa." A familiar voice emanated from the metallic suit. "Please, don't fight me, I have to get you out of here."
I stopped, my eyes unfocussed. I gave up trying to make sense of my situation.
He didn't stop moving, even after I could feel fresh air on my face. Sirens wailed behind me, but he kept walking until we were under the forest. A whirring noise followed and Arin looked down at me, the metal face of the creature seemingly having melted away in my addled mind.
"I'm glad you're okay. Can you breath?"
"I'm fine...I'm just really tired." A slow thought occurred to me. "I guess you can consider this payback, for the first tim eI met you." I laughed a little, then let the wave of sleep envelop me.

Diana took one final leap, having kept up with the culprit easily. Taking down her prey, she rolled them over, sitting on their stomach with one hand holding down each of their wrists. The red hair of the assailant, almost as fiery as the house, shook with laughter.
"Well, Diana. I always knew you liked me, but really?"
Diana's eyes opened in shock.
Hyde chittered at her. "We've only just been reunited and you're already trying to kill me. Just like old times."
